Scott Sportster P3 Hybrid

The SCOTT Sportster P3 hybrid bike is featured on all of the Discover France Adventures tours. They are brand new in 2008. Of note: the P3 is a superior quality all terrain bike that we call a hybrid. It is meant for the road or dirt surfaces that are relatively wide and free of objects. Each Scott P3 bike comes with: computer, frame pump, 1 or 2 bottle cages and bottles, rear rack, handle bar bag containing tire levers, spare tube, lock, and patch kit, helmet. If panniers are desired for tours, please ask in advance to have that added - no charge.

LOOK 566 carbon road

The Look 566 carbon road bike is featured on all of the Cycling Classics tours. They are brand new in 2009. Of note: the 566 is an entry level yet high quality carbon frame bike. From the Look website, you can read about the high quality carbon used in this model as well as the geometry and design features. The frame weighs in at 1100 grams and the carbon fork is another 350 grams! Total 1450 grams or 1.45kg (about 3 lbs!) The geometry as described by Look offers a taller head tube and shorter sloping top tube - a compact design to allow for more comfort for going longer and faster. Each Look bike comes with: computer, frame pump, 2 bottle cages and bottles, saddle bag containing tire levers, spare tube, and patch kit. A helmet is also included for tour clients.
NOT included: pedals, lock. No exceptions.

Other Equipment, GPS, & Services:

GPS - new in 2010 - we are including GPS on all France cycling and hiking tours. There are not enough to have 1 per person, but 1 per 2 persons is the norm, or 1 per family group. We use the Garmin Dakota 20 (Garmin Site Link) for the most part. We do also have Garmin Oregon models too. See our GPS info sheet to know more about the model and services available. Highlights of our GPS selections include:

TOUR SERVICES: We also operate tours for other tour companies and supply equipment such as our vans, trailers, bikes, mechanics, guides, etc to private tour groups, other tour companies, and we operate tours under other companies brand names. Guides, mechanics, and logistics support staff: when we use the title guide, we are referring exclusively to our professionally licensed and certified guides in France. We never use student leaders, or enthusiastic cyclists without the degree in such a role of responsibility and liability. We do have staff and large resource list of contacts who meet "logistics' coordinators and can also act as trip leaders. People who speak French and know cycling and the culture that can handle the day to day arrangements of a trip. About mechanics; they are professionally trained in France and earn a living doing their craft.

You are responsible for the bikes. All hybrids and tandems come with locks. Road bikes do not come with locks or pedals. We cannot change stems, cranks, or cassettes. Bikes are delivered to each participant based on height and inseam. We do not "FIT" bikes like a professional bike shop does when you buy a bike. They are sized as close as possible but they remain rentals and may take some minor adjustments. The quality is top notch for rentals. Our mechanics review every bike after each rental to prepare for the next use. WHILE ON TOUR: remember that YOU must know how to fix a flat. We give you the tools, but we are not on call to fix that. We will resolve any other mechanical issues if they should arise.
