This trip brings you along the most beautiful sites along the Canal that links the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean on safe cycle paths. Take your start from Moissac and its famous convent, a unique treasure of perfectly conserved Roman art. Your trip follows the Garonne River stopping by in the charming cities of Montauban and Toulouse. Toulouse is nicknamed the « Pink City ». You'll be enchanted by its culture and diversity: pedestrian shopping districts, gastronomic restaurants, Canal du Midi, bars, restaurants everything to fulfill your day and more if you'd like! You continue by riding on the peaceful Canal du Midi to Cathare country and finish in the famous medieval city of Carcassonne, a World Heritage Site. Arrival in Moissac

Arrive in Moissac and transfer on your own to the hotel. From Paris, you need to take a train (TGV) to Agen train station and then another train to Moissac (TER). We strongly suggest that you take advantage of your afternoon to discover the remarkable sites of Moissac such as the Abbey and its famous sculptures.

From Moissac to Montauban

Today will be the easier day with 23 miles. You will be out of Moissac by the Cacor canal bridge where you will be able to see the Bidounet Island. Your itinerary will guide to the charming city of Castelsarrasin, where we advise you, once again, to stop visiting. Later on your road, the Notre Dame de la Visitation church will appear in Montech, which is certified historic monument. After this city, you will left the banks to reach your final destination: Montauban.

From Montauban to Toulouse

Your last day riding will be the longest one with more than 45 miles. You will enjoy one more time of the canal cycling path with some times vine lands on the other side. You will quite the canal for a loop to visit Grenade with its church, its covered market and its bridges. You will go back your itinerary to reach Toulouse, the final point of your trip. There, you will be able to visit the pink city and enjoy your last moments in France.

From Toulouse to Castelnaudary

You quietly leave the center of town along the shady Canal du Midi to meander the quiet countryside. You follow the canal du midi bike path. Just before your final destination you will be crossing the Seuil de Naurouze and the obelisk of Riquet.

Tonight, you will stay in Castelnaudary, the historical highlight of Catharism, more currently recognized as the world capital of cassoulet.

From Castelnaudary to Carcassonne

You continue to follow the Canal du Midi. The path is less level, but well maintained. You will travel through very typical villages of this part of France, referred to as « Midi ». Ride into the heart of the Minervois territory to the medieval city of Carcassonne, another UNESCO world heritage site.

A paved option is available if you want to avoid the dirt road of the canal du midi.

ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES

To arrive in Moissac you can reach first Toulouse (by plane or TGV) and then take a train to Moissac (45 min) or you can take the train from Paris to Moissac with a change in Agen (about 5h30).

From Carcassonne you can reach Paris by train (about 5H30) with changes or other French cities such as Toulouse or Montpellier. If you want so, Carcassonne has its own airport which reachs several european airports
