Anyone been in Paris in the last few weeks?! Wow - things are busy! As I write this edition, France is set to take on England in World Cup Rugby in St Denis, and don't think that won't get a little "animated"! The French have a new sport to follow, and its Rugby! Of course, I'm talking about the rest of the country where rugby hasn't been so popular, but believe it or not the French are BIG rugby fans!

If you are planning a trip to Paris in November/December, you will find a city relieved of all the business and big events of September and October. Despite high Euro values right now, low season rates will go into effect at hotels, and around the countryside it is a a great time to find deals! Airfare is on sale, and with low season rates, the Euro increase can be more than offset. Enjoy!

PREDICTING EURO VALUES
There is a lot of news to report by the media when the US dollar loses value. Abroad it has been how CAD $ has reached parity and the AUS $ and others have gained in value. Nobody can predict what will happen in 6-9 months with any accuracy, so its important to relativize the Euro situation and not assume a vacation is out of reach. The increase over the last month adds about 50-60$US on to what used to cost 1000$US. That is not a deal breaker for the vacation but it can add up. How can you offset? Book air in advance, book hotels with incentives, stay in city centers - don't drive; eat in bistros, do outdoor markets, limit souvenirs, etc.

THE FRENCH PARADOX

How can the French manage to eat such rich and elegant foods and maintain healthy bodies? Or, avoid putting on weight?
Well, the French have their issues as well, and controlling weight in the age of processed foods is becoming more of a problem even in France. BUT, more than most the French are in touch with food quality and this tour is about that!

The concept is founded on the basis of new-technology of physiotherapy, linked to the rediscovery of well-being and the fundamental principles of Mediterranean nutrition and cuisine. Included are visits with fitness trainers, doctors, physiotherapists, psychologists, and nutritionists. Of course, there is plenty of interesting sites to see, foods and wines to taste, and a good bit of R&R..

The tour is a 7 night program based in the southern Languedoc region of French Catalonia around Perpignan and includes:

1690 Euros/per person dbl
7 nights accommodations in a Deluxe B&B Daily breakfast and lunch 3 dinners (1 of them in a 1* Michelin restaurant) Services mentioned at Center Mont Soleil (physical therapist, nutritionist, physiotherapist, pool, fitness center, hydro massages..) Visits detailed in the itinerary: Foie Gras excursion, Olive Oil initiation, guided visit of Carcassonne, boat trip on Canal du Midi, walk through Domaine de Banyuls) .
