Day
1 Arrival at Chantilly - famous for its chateau, as well as
its horse stables and race track. This is where high society collects
annually to for the Grand Prix de Diane. Night in 3 star hotel. Dinner
on your own.
Day 2: Royaumont Abbey - Chantilly - 15 km. Transfer by taxi to the famous Royaumont Abbey that was founded in 1228. From here you walk back to Chantilly through forest until the Chateau de la Reine Blanche, a gothic style hunting lodge. Night in same hotel. (B)
Day 3: Chantilly - Senlis - 12 km. In the morning,
visit the Grandes Ecuries - the 18th century building for the horses
that dominates the racetrack. You can also visit the Royal Chateau
and its museum and art exhibits. At Senlis, you will arrive in a medieval
setting and can visit this very old and romantic village. Transfer
by taxi to nearby Chateau Ermenonville, with dinner included. (B,D)
Day
4: Ermenonville- 16 km. A loop walk in the countryside including
a chance to visit Chaalis Cistercian abbey and chateau which is today
a museum. Walk in a park where Jean Jacques Rousseau, famous French
philosopher, is buried. Tonight you stay in a 19th century chateau
hotel, dinner included. (B,D)
Day 5: Departure after breakfast. Taxi to Chantilly and return to Paris. Departure directly to CDG airport possible as an alternative for supplement of 60 euros.
