Day 2 - Ride To Azay le Rideau: Your first ride will take you to Savonnieres and then to the famous gardens of Villandry, which were designed to be in complete harmony with the Renaissance architecture of the chateau. Then you will continue to Azay-le-Rideau, your final destination for today, famous for its Chateau on the Indre River, originally built in the Middle Ages to protect the passage from the road going from Tours to Chinon. Night in a nice 3* hotel in the center of town, and dinner included. (B,D)

Day 3 is Chateaux Day! Today the itinerary will take you through more Medieval Chateaux. First stop in Langeais, where the Chateau was the temporary lair of lawless armed bands during the Hundred Years War. After this Chateau, continue to a different theme, Chateau of Usse, a fairytale castle which is reputed to have inspired the story of Sleeping Beauty! Finally, you will head to Chinon where you spend the night and where you can taste some of the local wine, made famous in the writings of Francois Rabelais. Night in a small hotel in the center of town, dinner on your own. (B) Read about chateaux on this trip

Day 4 to Saumur. You can take your time in the morning to visit Chinon a little bit more in case you didn’t have time to visit the Fortress, or the Joan of Arc Museum, or even the Wine Museum! Then, start your ride to Saumur, with a stop at the Abbey of Fontevraud, one of the most beautiful and largest abbeys in Europe. Visitors come to admire its size as well as its diversity in architecture. Continue to Saumur, with its magnificent Chateau overlooking the River. But if you’re interested in wine, you’ll be delighted: the Saumur Brut is the most famous wine of the region but there are other less known wines that are just as nice, almost one to suit every taste!
