Tour de France - Stage 2 - MONT VENTOUX & MASSIF CENTRAL
The layout of each route has been carefully crafted by our team. 3 versions allow you adapt to the shape and the desires of each day:
Short version: 35km +1500m, Medium version: 75km +2000m or Long version: 125km +2500mThe itineraries are inspired by the routes taken by the Tour de France. You will climb the "Giant of Provence" from Bedoin the most difficult one. The riders of the 2021 Tour will link to climbs. Follow the path of the greatest champion who hacve left their mark on the Ventoux : Charly Gaul (1958), Eddy Merckx (1970), Marco Pantani (2000), Christopher Froome (2013). These places that were the scene of immense exploits, but also of dramas such as Tom Simpson's death in a race in 1967. The memory of the champion is perpetuated thanks to a headstone placed on the side of the road, barely two kilometers before the summit, in front of which thousands of cyclists from all over the world gather every year.

Day 1 : Arrival in Avignon
Meet at the train station at Avignon in the beginning of the afternoon. You guides will transfer you to your hotel in the Luberon hills near Mont Ventoux. Your guides will fit your bike to your morphology so you will be in the best conditions for the rides to come. There is a briefing to explain the details and program for the week. The Tour de France is at this time on a mountain stage in the Alps with a grueling finish on the Col du Granon. The day ends with a dinner together, an occasion to get acquainted and share souvenirs about the Tour de France.

Day 2 : Climb Mont Ventoux by Bédoin and cycle the Gorges de la Nesque

Climbing Ventoux is an unforgettable experience !
The longer option starts in direction of the Dentelles de Montmirail, beautiful geological formations, then continues on to Bedoin and the foot of the Provencal Giant. It’s your time to play ! You will be proud of your accomplishment once you’ve arrived at the summit. Imagine, in 2021, the pros climbed it twice in one stage! Ride downhill to Sault and the picturesque lavender fields that should be in full bloom at this time of year and enter the magnificent Gorges de la Nesque. For an easier option, you may begin directly from Bedoin or for a short option, ride up Mont Ventoux and finish after the descent to Sault.
Your guides will transfer you to your hotel to rest after an intense day. Take advantage to comfortably watch the stage finish of Alp d’Huez from the television. Who do you think will win the battle?

Day 3 : Discover Mont Lozere and the climb from Mende
Option 1 : 19 Miles - 30 Km
Option 2 : 37 Miles - 60 Km
Option 3 : 75 Miles - 120 Km

Elevation gain 2 : 1000 Meters
Elevation gain 3 : 2050 Meters
For your second day of cycling, you will discover a less known region, but it’s definitely worth the visit. This rural area is full of breathtaking landscapes, ideal for cycling. The long option starts in Barjac to climb the small roads of the National Park of Cevennes, passing through a famous small village that hosts one of the first pro races of the season, the Etoile de Bessages. From there, you will climb the Mont Lozere and its beautiful landscapes to join Mende and the renowned Croix Neuve also known as the Montée Jalabert. The climb was renamed after the victory of this French champion, now journalist, on the Tour de France. There are two other options to reduce the warm up before this final climb. Afterwards, you guides will transfer you to your hotel to rest after another intense day.
Meanwhile, the Tour arrives in Saint Etienne with most likely a sprint finish.

Day 4 : The finish line and VIP Tour de France access at Mende
Distance 1 : 23 Miles - 37 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 640 Meters
This morning you will start riding from Chateauneuf de Randon for the final kilometers of the day’s stage of the Tour de France. You ride under the red flag. Spectators awaiting the pros and the speaker will cheer you on as you cross the finish line just like the racers. Continue the moment as you mount the official podium. Time for souvenir pictures.
And the memory making moments aren’t finished yet. Join the VIP space and the heart of the Tour ambiance.
The VIP access, known as Izoard after a famous climb in the French Alps, is reserved uniquely to Official Tour de France Operators that we are. You’re on front row places to follow the stage, with many live transmission screens, hors d’oeuvres, drinks and especially an electric ambiance. Day 5 : Departure
After a good breakfast, your guides will transfer you to Montpellier in the morning. The Tour will go on today for a flat stage between Rodez and Carcassonne, and its magnificent medieval castle.
