Hike the Perigord, following the Dordogne River to Tremolat, Les Eyzies. Visit prehistoric caves and troglodyte houses on your way to the great town of Sarlat. And to make your tour even more enjoyable, the Dordogne region is famous for the French gastronomy, also known as the country of the "Good, Rich, and Unforgettable meals"!

Day 1 :   Arrive in Bergerac

Arrive in Bergerac - a large town with good rail access and services from Paris or Bordeaux. At Bergerac, settle in your charming hotel, where you will meet your guide for the orientation in the evening.

Day 2 :   Hike in the Dordogne Valley to Tremolat

Distance 1 : 11 Miles - 17 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 313 Meters 

After breakfast, you have a 9:30 am transfer to Lalinde, a nearby village that was once a fortified site. The hike from there is a scenic walk along the canal to discover the beautiful landscapes of the Perigord and amazing views over the Dordogne River. Walk on the GR6 to Tremolat, where you stay in a beautiful hotel. Take some time to discover the stunning gardens or relax in the pool, before enjoying a gourmet dinner.

Day 3 :   From Tremolat to Le Bugue

Distance 1 : 12 Miles - 19.5 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 383 Meters 

Today, you follow the GR6 leading you to Limeuil, one of the most beautiful villages of France, with its 12th century church. Your destination is Le Bugue, and you stay in a charming hotel. To visit today: Limeuil, voted one of the most beautiful villages of France; Porte Romane and the 18th century houses in Le Bugue.

Day 4 :   From Le Bugue to Les Eyzies

Distance 1 : 7 Miles - 12 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 275 Meters 

Today's itinerary will take you to the capital of prehistory: Les Eyzies! Enjoy a quiet walk in the countryside along La Vezere river, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy the scenery, before reaching Les Eyzies. Les Eyzies has many sites worth the visit, including the National Museum of Prehistory, the Grotto of Font de Gaume, and other smaller prehistoric sites.

Day 5 :   LOOP HIKE AROUND THE DORDOGNE CAVES

Distance 1 : 4 Miles - 7 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 144 Meters 

Today you can either take the day off to relax or do a loop tour around Les Eyzies. If you choose to walk, the itinerary will take you to the Gorge d'Enfer, located north of Les Eyzies. On this hike, you'll discover the many prehistorical sites of the area, such as the Caves of Grand Roc, L'abri du Poisson and many others. This is a very scenic walk through the forest where you will have several viewpoints over the Vezere River. Return to Les Eyzies and overnight in the same hotel.

Day 6 :   FROM LES EYZIES TO SARLAT

Distance 1 : 10 Miles - 16 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 500 Meters 

After breakfast; walk from Les Eyzies to Marquay through the Vallee de la Beune. This is where many small rivers join the Vezere. Today's walk will also take you to the Roc de Cazelle caves, where prehistoric habitations have been reproduced. Next, you'll reach the Chateau de Commarque, a 12th century castle located on a rocky outcrop in the valley of the River Beune. At 5:30pm a taxi will meet you in Marquay and transfer you to Sarlat. Overnight in Sarlat.

Day 7 :   LOOP AROUND BEYNAC

Distance 1 : 7 Miles - 12 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 333 Meters 

After breakfast, you have a nice loop tour to Beynac. You will have a transfer by taxi to the start (scheduled at 9:30 am). Your hike starts from La Roque Gageac, where you can take some time to visit the troglodyte sites, and then continues to the village of Vitrac and through the Cingle de Montfort. At 5:30pm a taxi transfer will take you back to Sarlat. Overnight in the same hotel. To visit today: the medieval village of La Roque Gageac, one of France's most beautiful villages, the Exotic Garden in La Roque Gageac, and the Château de Beynac.

Located in the centre of Bergerac, Le Clos d’Argenson dates back to the 19th century and features an outdoor swimming pool, garden and terrace.
