Atlantic West Coast & Sintra Cycling is an incredible cycling tour over the Atlantic west coast of Europe! Visit typical fisherman villages and cycle by the Atlantic Ocean. Discover the most well preserved medieval village in Portugal, Óbidos and feel the history walking on medieval roads.

Discover Sintra - UNESCO World Heritage, a land of castles and palaces. The trip finishes at the most the western-most point in Europe "Roca" Cape is a full stop to this wonderful trip.

Day 1 :   Arrival day in Lisbon

Welcome at airport or hotel in Lisbon. Transfer Lisbon to Óbidos (1h30)

Day 2 :   Óbidos to Peniche

Distance 1 : 32 Miles - 52 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 500 Meters 

Start this day going to the coast and cycling close to a beautiful lagoon. Arrive to the Atlantic Ocean where the lagoon join the Ocean – a great place with a gorgeous beach! Continue towards south and you will discover an incredible village on a very small peninsula that looks almost like an island!

If the tide permits you will cycle on the cobalt road around the village felling the wind coming from the sea! Get then to Peniche a city full of fishing traditions. Peniche is also on another peninsula but this time a bigger one. The route will follow a scenic road by the cliffs where you can admire incredible rock formations building dramatic figures and landscapes.

Get to the beautiful Carvoeiro Cape, and continue going around till you return to Peniche. On this day remember, the numerous restaurants located in the Peniche peninsula serve outstanding variety of seafood.

Day 3 :   Peniche to Ericeira

Distance 1 : 45 Miles - 73 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 800 Meters 

After a start close to see on this day the route will go inland on the first half showing you different scenery. Typical villages, white houses with red roof and beautiful countryside will invigorate you on another great cycling day! Approaching the Ocean you will go by an incredible valley of limestone with vibrant green Mediterranean vegetation.

Get to the beach and you can touch the fine sand again! Follow then a cycle path with great blue ocean views from above the cliffs till you get to Santa Cruz with its beautiful beach. After another inland section you will get to you destination – Ericeira, the Portuguese Mecca of Surf. Ericeira is also one of the most beautiful fisherman villages.

Day 4 :   Mafra loop

Distance 1 : 25 Miles - 40 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 800 Meters 

On this day you will cycle to the interior discovering the village of Mafra and its convent. The scenery of this day will contrast with the days closer to the sea. You will pass by farms and vineyards on a hilly region. Then discover and visit the monumental Mafra palace-monastery.

Day 5 :   Ericeira to Sintra

Distance 1 : 24 Miles - 38 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 800 Meters 

On the third day you will arrive and discover Sintra Natural Park and Hills, ending your day cycling on a constantly up and down. You will pass Monserrate where you can stop and visit the gardens and the fantastic Palace. The palace was recovered from the ruins of a neo-gothic mansion by the British millionaire Francis Cook in the 19th century; this is a unique and exquisite example of Romanticism.

Its gardens are one of the most beautiful landscape creations, including an extraordinary botanical collection of species originated from all over the world and creating contrasting sceneries along winding footpaths among ruins, corners, small lakes and waterfalls. Arrive to the beautiful village of Sintra, a UNESCO site. If you arrive early or if you have a free day here you can go up on the mountain and finding the incredible Moorish Castle dating back to the 8th Century.

Also worthwhile a visit the outstanding Pena Palace finding a wild fantasy of domes, towers, ramparts and walkways on one of the highest mountain peaks of Sintra.

Day 6 :   End of Europe Loop

Distance 1 : 34 Miles - 55 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 1100 Meters 

On the last day cross the hills of Sintra to the top on its mystic environment with time to stop and visit the incredible Franciscan Capuchin Convent with its tiny cells. Installed in the rock and lined with cork, the convent is a telling example of the humble and austere existence of the Franciscan friars who lived there.

Continue riding to the Atlantic Ocean and get to the westernmost point in Continental Europe - Cape Roca, a promontory rising 150m from the sea. Discover impressive beaches nestling between cliffs artistically sculpted out by the sea – unique coastal scenery! Return by the Hills to Sintra.

Day 7 :   Departure Day

Transfer (including bikes) from Sintra to Lisbon (30min) included at 9:30am (can be changed on request).

Day : 1

Day : 2

Day : 3, 4

Day : 5, 6

The tube set therefore was butted to bring only material to the necessary places of the power flow. A clean look were offered because the brake caliper sits on the chainstays.
