Day 2 :   From Bergerac to Tremolat

Distance 1 : 25 Miles - 40 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 440 Meters

A fairly challenging start to this tour, involving some hilly terrain up to the viewpoint of Les Cingles de Tremolat. The ride will take you along a scenic route to St Sauveur and through the surrounding forests.

Day 3 :   Ride to Les Eyzies

Distance 1 : 32 Miles - 51 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 636 Meters

You have a lot to see and visit today! The route starts easily, you will arrive to Audrix then down to Le Bugue and Gouffre de Proumeyssac, and then on to Les Eyzies, the capital of Pre-History! Take your time to visit this charming town and its sites and museums including the Font de Gaume grotto. Font de Gaume is a cave that houses a collection of prehistoric polychrome cave paintings. Prehistoric people living in the Dordogne Valley first settled in Font de Gaume around 25,000 BC. The cave was forgotten until the 19th century when the locals rediscovered the cave. Paintings were discovered and dated from 17000 BC, during the Magdalenien period. The cave's most famous painting, a fresco of five bisons was discovered accidentally in 1966 while scientists were cleaning the cave.

Day 4 :   Loop ride to Lascaux Cave

Distance 1 : 33 Miles - 53 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 797 Meters

You have the opportunity to visit the most famous cave in the region: Lascaux! The original Lascaux is not open to the public anymore but Lascaux 2 is the exact replica. Located just near to the town of Montignac, the cycling is a bit longer today. We recommend to start early if you want to have enough time to explore Lascaux 2. Pass through St Leon sur Vezere and numerous charming villages. Return to Les Eyzies, overnight at the same hotel.

Day 5 :   Ride to Sarlat

Option 1 : 15 Miles - 24 Km  Option 2 : 18 Miles - 29 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 385 Meters  Elevation gain 2 : 620 Meters

Your destination is the pitturesque town of Sarlat. This town with its cobbled streets, old roofs, and warm stone walls has an exceptional heritage. Sarlat is a medieval town created around a large Benedictine abbey of Carolingian origin. The medieval Sarlat Cathedral is dedicated to Saint Sacerdos. Because modern history has largely passed it by, Sarlat has remained preserved and one of the most representative towns of the 14th century in France. Your hotel is located in the center of the historical old town of Sarlat.

Day 6 :   Loop ride around Sarlat

Distance 1 : 20 Miles - 32 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 462 Meters

A rolling ride to visit the countryside and some of the main sites, as Chateau of Monfort, while riding on quiet country roads. Ride on a bike path back to Sarlat.

Distance 1 : 24 Miles - 38 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 612 Meters

Ride through some charming villages such as la Roque Gageac and Beynac. La Roque Gageac was also awarded the Most Beautiful Villages of France label. Built at the foot of a cliff, right along the river, don't miss its Exotic Garden and the troglodyte fort. Just 3 miles away is Beynac, boasting an imposing castle once besieged by Richard the Lion Hart. This visit is not on the itinerary but it's worth the detour if you have time!

Day 8 :   Departure Day

Breakfast is included and possibly some time to visit Belves before leaving back to Bergerac. We will transfer you back to Bergerac train station at 9:30am; allow 1 hour travel time before a train departure.
