Day 1 :   Arrival at Lyon and transfer

Meet at the airport or train station in Lyon in the beginning of the afternoon. You guides will transfer you to your hotel situated in the Maurienne Valley, in the heart of Alps. During the next three days in Savoie, you will discover one of the longest alpine valleys, 120 kilometers long between Italy and the Hautes Alpes. There are many legendary climbs and the National Vanoise Park that branches out from this valley. It’s a fabulous place to discover the mountains.

Your guides will fit your bike to your morphology so that you are in the best conditions for the rides to come. There will be a briefing to explain the details of the trip and the program. During this time, the Tour racers will be battling the first alpine stage between Aigle and Chatel. Surely there will be changes in the general ranking.

We will finish the day with dinner together, getting acquainted, and most likely sharing antidotes about the Tour.

Day 2 :   Discover a legendary mountain pass in the Alps

Option 1 : 28 Miles - 45 Km  Option 2 : 39 Miles - 62 Km  Option 3 : 66 Miles - 107 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 1620 Meters  Elevation gain 2 : 1750 Meters  Elevation gain 3 : 1900 Meters

On this day, you will start in the Maurienne Valley then the Isere Valley, depending on the options taken, to finally climb the famous Col de la Madeleine, climbed 27 times by the Tour de France, where racers such as Carapaz, Alaphilippe, and Virenque have strutted their stuff.

The Tour racers will be taking a merited rest before the important mountain stages that lie ahead.

Day 3 :   Along the roads of the “Etape” du Tour then the Col de Granon

Option 1 : 21 Miles - 33 Km  Option 2 : 37 Miles - 60 Km  Option 3 : 50 Miles - 80 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 1100 Meters  Elevation gain 2 : 2330 Meters  Elevation gain 3 : 3140 Meters

Today you ride along the route of a crucial stage for the Tour de France. For the longer ride option, you begin at St Michel de Maurienne to first confront the frequently used climbs of the Tour : Telegraph, Galibier, then down to the col de Lauteret and Serre Chevalier where awaits a final climb. And what a climb – 11 kilometers of grueling grades of at least 9.2% ! No wonder it’s only the second time in the history of the Tour de France that this climb is used to make the difference.

Don’t need the long warm up on the first climbs ? There is a second option to begin at Valloire shorly after the Telegraph or even begin at Lautaret.

There is a van transfer back to the hotel. The Tour races will have raced a rugged route between Morzine and Megeve.

Take advantage of your last evening in the Maurienne Valley to visit the quaint streets of the town.

Day 4 :   Climbing Alpe d’Huez

Option 1 : 16 Miles - 25 Km  Option 2 : 22 Miles - 35 Km  Option 3 : 51 Miles - 82 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 1200 Meters  Elevation gain 2 : 1180 Meters  Elevation gain 3 : 2970 Meters

This ride climbs 3 beautiful alpine passes : Croix de Fer, Glandon, and Alpe d’Huez. The longer option begins in St Jean de Maurienne for the same 3 climbs as the Tour, battling the same route as the pros. The middle option starts in Rivier d’Allemond to warm up before the climb to Alpe d’Huez or take the shorter option and concentrate on the 21 famous turns climbed for the 30th time by the Tour de France.

There is a van transfer to the hotel. Spend the evening watching the stage of the day on the television where the racers confront the same grueling climb to the col de Granon that you did the day before.

Day 5 :   VIP Access at Alpe d’Huez and the stage finish

Distance 1 : 16 Miles - 26 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 700 Meters

For the more motivated, there is a morning ride to the Col d’Ornon, many times taken by the Tour. Then return to the action of the Tour de France where you will be in the heart of the ambiance with VIP access on the finish line at Alpe de Huez. In this privileged space you have live transmission of the stage and are served cool beverages and snacks. The ambiance is electric ! Observe the racers as they climb the same route that you did the day before, then get a front on view of the finish from atop the Bus Izoard. Who will win ?

Your guides will transfer you to your hotel where together you can share your souvenirs of an amazing day.

Day 6 :   Departure from Alpe d'Huez & transfer

After a good breakfast, your guides will transfer you to Lyon.

Why not continue the stay with stage 2 at Mont Ventoux ? and stage 3 in the Pyrenees?
