The tour starts in Bergerac where you can get acquainted with the local cuisine and delicacies before starting your cycling trip. Cycle on to Tremolat and then les Eyzies, where you will not only visit prehistoric caves but also canoe along the Dordogne river. Your next stop is Sarlat, a charming medieval town, and from here you will explore the Dordogne Valley : cycling through some of the most beautiful villages of France, visiting caves and troglodyte houses.
Sarlat and its region has everything to make this active trip an unforgettable one!

Day 1 :   Arrive in Bergerac

Arrive Bergerac - a large town with good rail access and services. This is your gateway into the famous Black Perigord. The historic city is very picturesque, with many sites to visit such as the Maison des Vins to discover local wines.

Orientation and bike delivery at your hotel in the evening. Dinner out on your own in Bergerac; some suggestions will be included in your travel book.

Day 2 :   Cycle to Tremolat

Distance 1 : 25 Miles - 40 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 440 Meters 

A fairly challenging start to this tour, with some hilly terrain up to the viewpoint of Les Cingles de Tremolat. A panoramic itinerary, you will pass through St Sauveur and the surrounding forests.

Day 3 :   Ride to Les Eyzies

Distance 1 : 32 Miles - 51 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 636 Meters 

You will start the morning with an orienteering course to challenge your skills and then later you can take off on a bicycle ride to the capital of Pre-History. On the ride you'll first stop at Limeuil, one of the most beautiful village of France. Continue to Le Bugue and then on to Les Eyzies! Take your time to visit this very charming town and its sites/museums including the Font de Gaume.

Font de Gaume is a cave housing a collection of prehistoric polychrome cave paintings. Prehistoric people living in the Dordogne Valley first settled in the Font de Gaume around 25,000 BC. The cave was forgotten until the 19th century. The paintings discovered date back from 17000 BC, during the Magdalenien period. The cave's most famous painting, a frieze of five bison was discovered accidentally in 1966 while scientists were cleaning the cave.

Day 4 :   Visit Sarlat

A nice ride that takes you to an adventure park where you can do some ropes courses in the tree tops and zip lines, a great time that you can do at your own pace. Local French speaking employees of the park will help you with your harness and equipment. After the adventure park, continue to Sarlat. This town with its cobbled streets, old roofs, and warm stone walls boasts an exceptional heritage. Sarlat is a medieval town built around a large Benedictine abbey of the Carolingian period.

The medieval Sarlat Cathedral is dedicated to Saint Sacerdos. Sarlat is one of the most representative towns of the 14th century. Overnight in a lovely hotel in the center of the old town in Sarlat.

Leaving Sarlat.

Le Vieux Logis was formerly a tobacco farm house and in 1952 the father of the present owner, Monsieur Giraudel, after retiring from his work in Paris, moved to this relaxing region away from all the city hustle, and decided to venture into the hospitality business. Today, his son Bernard, the youngest of all, continues the business. The property is one of great charm and elegance where every room has been tastefully decorated in different antique styles using beautiful fabrics.
