Pedal through peaceful countryside, discover celebrated wine areas such as Torgiano and Montefalco, admire the ceramics of Deruta, and explore iconic hill towns including Assisi, Spoleto, Todi and Orvieto.
The route combines rolling terrain, panoramic roads and memorable historic centers, with overnight stays in characterful hotels that reflect the region’s elegant and understated charm.

Arrival in Città della Pieve


Arrival in Città della Pieve, a lovely hill town close to the Tuscan border, easily reached from Chiusi-Chianciano Terme train station. After bike delivery and fitting, there is time to settle in and explore the town at leisure.

Known for its warm terracotta tones and saffron tradition, Città della Pieve is a delightful first stop, with a compact historic center, elegant squares and sweeping views over the surrounding countryside.

From Citta della Pieve to Torgiano via Deruta


Your first ride crosses a peaceful rural landscape of open fields, farmhouses and softly rolling hills. Along the way, a worthwhile stop is Deruta, one of Italy’s best-known pottery towns, famous for its long ceramic tradition.

The day ends near Torgiano, one of Umbria’s classic wine destinations and home to the renowned Lungarotti estate. Accommodation tonight is at a beautiful resort with spa facilities, perfect for relaxing after the ride.

From Torgiano to Montefalco via Assisi


Today’s route is rich in highlights. After descending into the broad valley below, the ride continues toward Assisi, one of Umbria’s most iconic towns, dramatically set against the slopes of Mount Subasio. Its churches, stone lanes and spiritual atmosphere make it an essential visit.

From there, continue through Spello and Bevagna, two of the region’s most charming historic villages, before reaching Montefalco. Surrounded by vineyards and known for its exceptional views, Montefalco is one of Umbria’s great hill towns and a centerpiece of the local wine culture.

Distance : 58 Km (36 mi).

From Montefalco LOOP to Spoleto


Today’s circular ride features gentler terrain, passing rural churches, quiet roads and small settlements tucked into the Umbrian countryside. A highlight along the route is Spoleto, one of the region’s most elegant towns, with an attractive historic center and an important artistic heritage.

Back in Montefalco, the day can end with a wine tasting in one of Umbria’s best-known red wine areas, celebrated above all for Sagrantino.

From Montefalco to Todi


The route to Todi is one of the most atmospheric of the trip, following back roads across a quieter and more rural stretch of Umbria. The scenery alternates between wooded areas, streams, cultivated hills and small villages with very little traffic.

Approaching Todi, the striking church of Santa Maria della Consolazione announces your arrival. With its medieval walls, handsome piazzas and refined historic character, Todi is one of Umbria’s most rewarding towns to explore.

From Todi to Orvieto


Today’s ride heads south toward Orvieto, passing quiet countryside and the area around Prodo Castle. This is one of the more demanding stages, with several climbs, but also one of the most memorable.

By the end of the day, Orvieto appears dramatically on its volcanic plateau, crowned by its magnificent cathedral, widely considered one of Italy’s finest. It is a spectacular setting for the final night of the tour.
