This giant playground includes the famous passes of Alpe d'Huez, Lautaret, Galibier, Glandon, Croix de Fer and the 2 Alpes. Beyond these legendary climbs, you will also have the opportunity to climb smaller hills through this extensive and beautiful region of the Alps. Do not leave without climbing up to the small village of Bérarde, an exception for road cycling in the heart of an incredible landscape!

Day 1 :   Arrive in Freney d'Oisans

Travel from Grenoble to the hotel where you will have your welcome meeting, bike delivery and inspection and program orientation conducted by one of our knowledgeable local staff. Local bus service is regular to Freney or we can arrange a private transfer for an additional fee. Dinner included.

Day 2 :   Alpe d'Huez today!

Option 1 : 30 Miles - 48 Km  Option 2 : 42 Miles - 68 Km

We suggest to start with a nice long downhill toward Allemont as a way to get your legs warmed up before turning back toward Bourg d'Oisans. You can choose to go straight up Alpe d'Huez at this point, or continue your riding to La Berarde where you can take a cable car ride with your bike up to Les Deux Alpes, to start attacking the 21 switchbacks! Alpe d'Huez is a vertical climb of 1.120m (3.733 feet), 14 km (8.75 miles) long, gradients between 7.7 and 12% and 21 switchbacks is one of the most historical and heroic ones in the history of the Tour de France.

Day 3 :   Col du Gladon & Croix de Fer

Option 1 : 62 Miles - 100 Km  Option 2 : 68 Miles - 110 Km

Today, an easy start as you warm up slowly descending to Bourg d'Oisans and then take the valley up to the intersection indicating "Col de la Croix de Fer." At that point, you start a long climb of 30 kilometers surrounded by a sublime landscape. Once at the Col du Glandon, you have barely 3km to reach the top of the Iron Cross peaks over 2000m. Breathe deep and pat yourself on the back, you made it!

Day 4 :   Col du Lautaret & Galibier

Option 1 : 42 Miles - 67 Km  Option 2 : 44 Miles - 71 Km 
Elevation gain 1 : 2035 Meters  Elevation gain 2 : 2057 Meters 

Your legs should be ready now to attack a monument in the Alps, le Col du Galibier at 2642m. Before getting there, you will start go through the col du Lautaret to get you ready for the final climb. At that point you will go up 8.5 km at 7% and over 12% on the last meters! At the top you will be rewarded for your efforts with a magical scenery of snow-capped peaks and surrounding glaciers.

Day 5 :   Departure Day

Departure after breakfast with transfer on your own to Grenoble TGV station by bus from Freney d'Oisans. We can arrange a private transfer for an additional fee. Extra nights are possible if you wish to extend your stay.

Informations & Recommendations

TGV trains are available from Paris to Grenoble from the Gare de Lyon. From here, a regular bus service is available for a very low cost, or we can arrange a private transfer based on your arrival to the Grenoble train station.
