This active vacation in Provence offers different adventurous ways to visit the Provence region.
You will cycle from Avignon to Uzes, canoe down the Gardon river on your way to Saint Remy de Provence, passing by the impressive Roman aqueduct, the Pont du Gard. You will also get the chance to hike around St Remy to discover the beautiful Baux de Provence. Mountain biking around Fontaine de Vaucluse, you will see the famous Mont Ventoux and ride through the Provence vineyards.
This unique itinerary offers an “off the beaten track” experience.

Day 1 : Arrive in Provence
Today is arrival day and meeting day, which also gives the opportunity to explore the Center of Avignon. An English speaking team-member will welcome you at the hotel in the early evening (or following morning) for orientation and bike delivery. We recommend arriving early in the afternoon so you can visit Avignon in a unique way with our cultural walking tour in the historical center! Avignon is a culturally and historically rich city with much to see and much to learn.
Our Walking Tour will introduce you to the most important sites and give you a fun way to pass a couple hours after arrival (On your Own). We strongly encourage a little time in Avignon, and history buffs could arrive a day early and pass an extra night exploring Avignon!

Day 2 : Bike ride to Uzes
Distance 1 : 33 Miles - 53 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 522 Meters
First active day is by bike, a route that moves out of Villeneuve-les-Avignon through the Gard forests and vineyards and to visit the famous roman aqueduct Pont du Gard which dominates the river at over 165 feet high. Swimming is possible in the river. You will cycle on to Uzes, a beautiful Provencal village with plane tree lined streets. Adventurers: an option to do Via Ferrata is possible today! Via Ferrata is like rock climbing with the help of steps and security line on fixed cables. To add this option, you must book at least 1 month in advance, the supplement is 115 euros/person - guided activity with local professional.

Day 3 : Canoe ride down the Gardon river on to St. Remy de Provence
Distance 1 : 24 Miles - 38 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 368 Meters
38km (24mi) cycling, 8km (5mi) paddling, about 1h30 of canoe - An exciting combination of cycling and paddling today. You will hop on a canoe and paddle down the Gardon River through the famous Gorges du Gardon. You will start the day with a short and flat warm-up bike ride from your hotel to the village of Collias to start your canoe trip through a calm stretch of the Gardon River.
Your bikes are transferred to meet you at the pull out spot at the Pont du Gard. You then cycle from there to the beautiful village of Saint-Remy-de-Provence where you will spend the night.

Day 4 : Hike around St Remy de Provence
Distance 1 : 12 Miles - 19 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 467 Meters
Put your hiking shoes on and get on the GR 6 trail that will lead you to the nearby hills above St Remy known as the Alpilles. This hike will take you along to the Citadel of Les Baux de Provence. After your visit of the village we suggest you walk to the Val d'Enfer and its rock formations, then make your way back to Saint Remy. Hiking with hills at Les Baux.
This hike isn't available in July and August due to fire risks and will be replaced by a biking loop around St Rémy (42km). Outside this period, the forestry service still has the right to close the trails as needed due to the reason above.
OPTION: Cooking Class. If you book the cooking class for today, it starts at 2:30 pm. The class starts with a garden visit and then cooking which finishes at diner to enjoy your work. Day 5 : Cycle to Fontaine de Vaucluse
Distance 1 : 30 Miles - 48 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 537 Meters
After breakfast, you cycle on to Fontaine de Vaucluse where you spend the night. On the way to Fontaine de Vaucluse, you have the possibility to cycle on to Isle sur la Sorgue, which is a short 10km trip from Fontaine. Isle sur la Sorgue is a charming town located on the river Sorgue, that is very worth visiting!

Day 6 : Mountain bike in Provence
Distance 1 : 21 Miles - 34 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 750 Meters
For your day, we have planned for you to do a nice 'balade' on mountain bikes. You will ride a short distance on paved roads to meet the trail and after you will have a nice quiet trail to follow that makes a loop and brings you back to the road. The trail is a mix of wide trail and sand/gravel to sections of single track. None of it is technical or requires advance mountain bike skill. Approximately 30 km cycling and 3 hours.

Day 7 : vineyards bike tour to Bedoin
Distance 1 : 26 Miles - 42 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 682 Meters
Today, ride to Bedoin at the foot of Mont Ventoux. You will ride on typical narrow little country side road from Provence and Luberon. Enjoy nice panoramic views and roads in the middle of limestone cliffs. Approaching Mont Ventoux, you will ride in the vineyards of Provence.

Day 8 : Departure Day
Departure Day, we will transfer you back to Avignon rail station at 09:30 am where you can get a train to Paris or other destination.

Day : 1, Post-tour Night

Situated in a historical building dating back to the XVIth century, Hotel Cloitre Saint Louis Avignon offers an extremely quiet and serene environment.Initially a religious school for Jesuits, the Cloister saw its function changed over the centuries to a military hospital, and a home for the elderly.After a thorough renovation in 1990, the building is now a prominent cultural center and a four star hotel. Savours, aromas... The cuisine at L'esprit Jardin , crafted with the marvels of taste and freshness gleaned from nearby Provencal markets, croons with a delectable local accent. Dine indoors or on the outdoor terrace under the pine trees.

In town, situated in front of the Eveche, the cathedral and the windowed bell - tower, the Hotel d'Entraigues is assembled around a panoramic terrace and some private houses of the 17th and 18th centuries, which together form a quiet and privileged place.
The hotel, originally built by an aristocratic family in the 15th century was later restored in the 17th century and remains today the best hotel in the charming town of Uzes. The restaurant offers a panoramic restaurant and calming ambiance. 34 rooms are all very comfortable and equipped with air conditioning.

Informations & Recommendations
Arrival city is Avignon, which accessible via train from Paris Gare de Lyon (2hrs 45min) or Paris CDG airport (3 hours). Taxi from rail station to hotel is approx. 15 euros. Departure from Avignon; same return travel time to Paris.
