The role of cycling in your life? Mostly childhood memories, at home and on vacation. My first rides around the house, biking around town with friends, late-night adventures as a teenager… Cycling has always had a sense of freedom and childhood for me.
Your favorite trip? Iceland – I found a truly unique sense of serenity there, with landscapes that really stay with you. It’s simple: I’ve already been back twice… and I’d go again without hesitation!
A travel anecdote about you? Two days of trekking in the jungle in Indonesia to catch a glimpse of orangutans. I was sick the entire time and couldn’t keep anything down. Our guide ended up giving me termites to eat – apparently a great source of protein. He tore off some tree bark and handed them to me. I had to eat them alive and chew quickly to swallow! It was the only “meal” I managed to keep down.
Your favorite French region and why? My native Brittany – both fierce and gentle at the same time. Its wild nature, rugged coastline, stunning landscapes and culture that remains deeply alive. Bevet Breizh!
A must-try French specialty? A good ham, butter and cheese sandwich – sorry, but nothing beats that!
A hidden talent? I can ride a bike without training wheels!
