Day 1 :   Arrive in Toulouse– Transfer to Luz Saint Sauveur

Our Tour de France Pyrenees adventure will start at the Toulouse Blagnac Airport or at the Matabiau train station in the early afternoon. We will meet the group and make our 2.5-hour transfer to our hotel in Luz Saint-Sauveur. Resting in the shadows of the Col du Tourmalet, Luz Saint-Sauveur is a classic Pyrenean village, and it is the perfect base for Tour de France experience. After a brief orientation meeting and bike fitting, you can take some time to explore the town by foot, or even get on your bike and discover some great short rides from the hotel. We will meet for dinner tonight in the hotel’s restaurant and toast the beginning of our Tour de France adventure.

Day 2 :   It’s time to ride!

Option 1 : 30 Miles - 48 Km  Option 2 : 44 Miles - 70 Km  Option 3 : 68 Miles - 110 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 1578 Meters  Elevation gain 2 : 1890 Meters  Elevation gain 3 : 2130 Meters

Today you will enjoy one of the finest loop rides we know of in the Pyrenees. After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we will pedal directly from the hotel and enjoy a few downhill miles as we warm up. Soon we are in the valley and enjoying some nice flat warm up riding before the rolling hills start. Our direction is clockwise and we will climb through foothill villages and eventually drop into Bagnères-de- Bigorre, where we’ll stop for lunch to fuel up before our big climb this afternoon. After lunch it is back on the bikes to follow much of the route that the TDF riders will face in two days’ time. The road will most likely already be lined with thousands of fans in the RV’s and camper vans, getting ready for the battle in two days. As we will climb the Eastern slopes of the daunting Col du Tourmalet, we’ll be cheered on by the thousands of fans who are already here in their RVs and camper vans, setting up for the action that will soon take place. We pass through the ski village of La Mongie before arriving at the summit of the Col du Tourmalet. It is a must stop event here, and we’ll pause for photos, and maybe even some hot coffee in the small café that is roadside. The last part of today’s ride is completely downhill, off the Col du Tourmalet, and into our home base of Luz Saint-Sauveur below. But don’t worry, our support van will never be far and we encourage everyone to use it on this trip should they want to.

Day 3 :   TDF Live in Person!! VIP Finish Line Experience in Laruns – Stage 5

Option 1 : 17 Miles - 28 Km  Option 2 : 24 Miles - 38 Km  Option 3 : 35 Miles - 57 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 120 Meters  Elevation gain 2 : 525 Meters  Elevation gain 3 : 1500 Meters

We are in for a big day today as we get to see the main event live and in person. But first, we’ll ride one of the most beautiful (and challenging!) mountains in the Pyrenees, the daunting Col d’Aubisque. After an early breakfast at the hotel, we will board our vans and do a quick shuttle to the village of Argeles-Gazost. We’ll unload the bikes and launch our riding adventure. The flat countryside is beautiful as we ride out of Argeles-Gazost, and it makes for a nice warm-up ride. But this does not last long. Before too long, the road ramps up as we encounter a relatively unknown yet nonetheless brutal pre-climb to the Col d’Aubisque, the Col du Soulor. This Col is no joke and we’ll go slowly and take our time, doing our best to save our energy along the way. As we eventually reach the summit of the Col d’Aubisque, you will be well rewarded for your efforts and pain. Most of our remaining ride is downhill. As we approach Laruns, we’ll be ushered onto the race course itself for our special VIP Ride Across the Finish line adventure. This is an exhilarating moment as you will be cheered on by the throngs of fans along the road. Pedal across the same finish line as the pros and then enjoy some photos at the podium. Next, it’s time to relax in the VIP Izoard zone. Enjoy snacks and champagne as the riders approach. The scene will be one to remember as the race will certainly be exciting today. After the race, we hop in the vans and enjoy a fun ride back to the hotel in Luz-Saint-Sauveur. The transfer time should be about 2 hours.

Day 4 :   See the TDF Live in Person! The Tour de France comes to us!!

Distance 1 : 24 Miles - 39 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 1400 Meters

After breakfast at the hotel, we will enjoy one of the greatest cycling events one can have – seeing the Tour de France ride by your hotel!! For those who would like to ride, your guides will lead the climb from our hotel up the Col du Tourmalet in the early morning. We’ll enjoy climbing the mountain with thousands of other fans on bikes. At the summit, we’ll find a place to rest and wait in wonderful anticipation. For those who do not want to ride, today is a great day to take off the bike and enjoy the festive atmosphere in town. Regardless of the plan you choose, today will be a glorious day at the Tour de France.

Day 5 :   Transfer to Bordeaux for Live VIP IZOARD Finish Line Experience!

Today will be an exciting day for us at the Tour de France. After breakfast at our hotel in Luz Saint-Sauveur, we will say “au revoir” to the Pyrenees and transfer north to Bordeaux. Our transfer today in total will be about 3.5 hours, but we’ll break it up and stretch our legs along the way. We’ll arrive in Bordeaux in the early afternoon and check in to our hotel. The city will be alive with thousands and thousands of Tour de France fans from all over the world. We are going to enjoy it all. Take some time to explore the area around the hotel by foot, or simply enjoy taking in all of the Tour de France hysteria. Around 3PM we will make our way to the Izoard hospitality area directly at the finish line. We’ll take our places and enjoy snacks and drinks with a few other lucky souls. Soon the noise of the helicopters and motorcade will begin to buzz in the distance. We’ll take in all of the action and be right in front for the final push to the finish line. Champagne will be toasted and fun will be had!!

Day 6 :   Ride the Wine Route in the Medoc region of Bordeaux.

Option 1 : 32 Miles - 52 Km  Option 2 : 47 Miles - 76 Km
Elevation gain 1 : 145 Meters  Elevation gain 2 : 240 Meters

This morning we will move at a more leisurely pace after our long day yesterday. After breakfast, take time to wander the historic city center only a few feet from our hotel. In late morning we’ll get back on the bikes and head out of town to visit one of the most famous wine regions in the world, the Medoc. We’ll enjoy a flat day of riding as we cruise past the glorious wine estate chateaux that litter our route. We’ll pedal past legendary houses such as Margaux and many others. We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch roadside and then head to our first wine-tasting of the day. We’ll try and make time for a second tasting too, time permitting. We’ll finish the ride by looping back into Bordeaux and ride back to the hotel. Take time to rest and freshen up before our farewell dinner at a restaurant in town. We’ll toast the end of what will surely be a Tour de France experience to remember forever.

Day 7 :   Au Revoir to Bordeaux

After breakfast at our hotel, we will provide transfers to both the Bordeaux Saint-Jean Train Station as well as the Bordeaux Merignac Airport.

Average / Day : Distance : 57.56 Km / 35.67 Miles - Elevation gain : 1058.67 Meters
